The Gentle Scramble for a Space on the Web Land
Gone are the days when lands were battled for. These battles often created enemies. Think of the great Walls of China or the walls of Jericho. Lands were protected heavily, and crossing into another was punished by death. It was a trespass of no return.
Many people died or lost their homes because of the scramble for land. The mighty simply became mightier.

Land as Inheritance
The less mighty could usually only acquire land through the mercy of the mighty. For the powerful families, land was passed down through generations. It became an inheritance running through the family line.
The world today is far more developed and safer. There are no more battles for land. Anyone willing to work hard can acquire land of their own.
But now there is a new kind of land, and a new kind of battle for it.
The Internet
A New Kind of Land
The emergence of the internet was a great thing. It opened up huge opportunities. It was a virgin, fertile land, vast and great.
The web is enormous, a space beyond measure. Because of this, we can truly say: "there is a place and a space for all."
Like acquiring and developing physical land, the web works in a similar way. But there is a key difference. With physical land, you must first buy it and then develop it. The web is free for everyone. It is so vast that you can simply claim a piece of it and start building.
The Gentle Scramble
The quiet battle now is one of self-challenge. It is a challenge of development and creativity, for the benefit of everyone.
Creativity and development expand the boundaries of this land without a single punch being thrown. Yet there is still land to explore, and still room to put creative hands to work.
This is what I call the gentle scramble for the web land.
